Cecil Adair Blackstock age 94, of Talmo, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at New Horizons Lanier Park after an extended illness.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carmel McEver Blackstock, parents, Lloyd & Flora Bell Blackstock, brothers, Don Blackstock and Byron Blackstock. Survivors include nieces and cousins.

Cecil was born October 8, 1923 in Talmo, Georgia where he continued to live throughout his life.  For many years, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as mail carrier. He enjoyed greeting people along his route and would often give candy to the children. Cecil also worked with the Soil Conservation Service as Conservation Aide.  Cecil was a cattle and poultry farmer.  Cecil loved to strike a deal.  He spent much of his time bargaining with costumers over items he sold.

Cecil was a member of Talmo Baptist Church where he and Carmel enjoyed singing in the choir. Cecil shared memories of he and Carmel as they worked together making tea cakes to share with their community.

Please accept my condolences in your loss. Abraham Lincoln said it best” It’s not the years in your life that count. Its the life in your years.” Mr. Cecil had both a long and full life. But when death separates us from our loved ones there is sorrow. May we look to the time when death will be done away with completely. 1 Corinthians 15:26

Must add...Cecil lived many years in Florida prior to his Dad's stroke...My Dad's Uncle Lloyd. As a child, I can vividly remember Cecil's visits to his parents & how much fun he was. Once Uncle Lloyd had his stroke, Cecil returned to Talmo & remained there until his death. Sad..those writing his obit do not know of his history!!! May this Dear Man Rest In Peace!!
