Memorial services for Benjamin Kenneth Head, age 74, Gainesville will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Head passed Monday following an extended illness.

Mr. Head was born on September 3, 1943 in Dahlonega, Georgia to Ben and Beulah Head. He was formerly employed by Merita Bread Company, Atlanta Dairy Company, and retired from The Morris McClure Company. During those days of employ, Mr. Head enjoyed meeting and talking with his customers.  He also enjoyed coming across and collecting old coins.  His collection began as a young man, and his oldest coin is from 1888.  That coin was special to him because it was the year his mother was born.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Tyner Head; parents; brothers and sisters:  Louise Ridley, Conabelle Grizzle, Edith Segars, Jack Head, Azalea Tritt, Bencie Mills, Barbara West, Frank Head, and Johnny Head.

Mr. Head is survived by his son, Scott Head (Kathy), his only grandson, Michael, brother-in-law Steve Tyner, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their kindness and wonderful care of Mr. Head during this time.
